UAS enthusiasts must register

Small UAS enthusiasts and hobbyists in the US will be required to register their aircraft with the FAA through a web-based facility in order to legally operate them.

The requirement applies to UAS weighing from 250g to 25kg and includes payloads such as onboard cameras. The Registration Task Force delivered recommendations to FAA Administrator Michael Huerta and Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx on November 21.
