Elbit to provide UAS maritime patrol for EMSA
Elbit Systems has received a framework contract from the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) to provide maritime UAS patrol services within the European Union, the company announced on 1 November.
The contract has a two-year base period and two single year option periods. It will be executed in cooperation with Portugal's CEiiA.
Under the terms of the contract, Elbit Systems will lease and operate its Hermes 900 long-range unmanned maritime surveillance UAS and ground control station.
The Hermes 900 UAS will be equipped with maritime radar, an EO payload, satellite communication and an Automatic Identification System receiver. In this configuration, the UAS will provide persistent monitoring of large areas of sea and coastlines and effective identification of suspicious activities and potential hazards.
