DSEI 2017: Unmanned RIB makes a splash (video)

BAE Systems will demonstrate its unmanned Pacific 950 (P950) rigid inflatable boat (RIB) in its fully autonomous mode for the first time at DSEI.

The company will also be showing the vessel in its remote-controlled mode and in its manned mode during the London event. The P950 in its unmanned configuration will be supporting the marines boarding a Type 23 vessel.

Shephard spoke to Alan Watson, business development manager at BAE Maritime Services about the unmanned vessel. ‘For the very first time at DSEI we will be able to demonstrate [the RIB being] truly autonomous,' he said.
