DARPA Gremlins programme moves to Phase 3 with Dynetics

18th April 2018 - 20:55 GMT | by Richard Thomas in London

Dynetics has been selected as the sole participant in Phase 3 of the DARPA Gremlins programme, following a year-long Phase 2 research process on preliminary designs and risk-reduction tests of individual system components.

The programme envisions volleys of low-cost, reusable UAS - dubbed Gremlins - that could be launched and later retrieved in mid-air by C-130 and other aircraft.

For Phase 3, the potential to transition to operational use will be demonstrated through a series of ground and flight tests starting in 2018, and culminating in the airborne launch and safe recovery of multiple unmanned aerial vehicles onto a C-130
