Danger zone: SkyGuardian flight precautions emerge

Temporary danger and diversion areas were established by the UK's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to assist the July 2018 transatlantic flight and UK touch down of the SkyGuardian UAV it has emerged, including the Royal Navy Air Station at Culdrose.

The aircraft made the 24 hour flight across the Atlantic and into UK airspace without its detect and avoid capability according to the OEM, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI). Airspace around England and Wales was made available to the UAV during the decent phase as a precautionary measure.
