CybAero begins factory testing APID 60 VTOL
CybAero has begun factory testing three APID 60 VTOL UAS set for delivery to China Customs, the company announced on 2 February. The UAS will be stationed on three new vessels of China Customs.
The company won an award for supplying these systems in January 2014, with the customer set to commission the new ships in 2015.
Once factory testing is complete, CybAero will ship the first APID 60 UAS to China Customs. On delivery, the system will be installed and undergo final testing before entering operations. CybAero expects all three systems to be installed and accepted by the second quarter of 2015.
Meanwhile, CybAero has also started staff training under its agreement with an Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) company. Under the agreement, the company has committed to purchase at least 70 unmanned helicopter systems from CybAero over an eight-year period. The agreement is estimated to be worth $84.58 million-$96.66 million.
Customer staff are being trained on basic technical management of the system under the two-week training programme.
Mikael Hult, CEO, CybAero, said: 'The purpose of the training programme is to give both technical and sales staff from AVIC basic knowledge and understanding of the system and its design.'
