Continued investment proves less risky for Watchkeeper

The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) remains committed to the troubled Watchkeeper project despite missing its full operating capability (FOC) one milestone in November 2017.

It appears that ongoing investment in the programme could be the most risk-averse way of moving forward and not wasting over a decade’s worth of development.

Justin Bronk, research fellow at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), told Shephard that continuing to invest in the platform is 'seemingly judged less risky' than giving up on expensive development work.

This is particularly relevant given the ongoing defence review process in which the army is widely seen
