China reaps Middle East market

Taking advantage of the United States reluctance to give approval for the export sales of armed unmanned aerial systems (UAS), even to friendly nations in the Middle East, China has been waging a successful marketing programme of its UAS to fill this gap.

One of its most capable medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) UAV platforms is the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) CH-4. At Sofex, the China Aerospace Long-March International company was promoting the armed variant, the MQ-9 Reaper-class CH-4B.

With a wingspan of 18 m and a length of 8.5 m, the CH-4B has a maximum take-off weight
