Beihang Unmanned Aircraft System Technology is developing a new super-sized UAS for the transportation of cargo and parcels throughout Chinese airspace.

The new UAS design has a 19.6m wingspan and will be able to carry a payload weighing up to 1.5t. With the design due for completion this year and a prototype taking to the air for the first time in 2020, it is likely to be the world’s largest civil UAS with a 3.6t maximum take-off weight.

If test flights of the twin-engine aircraft are successful a UAS delivery network using this new craft could appear from about 2025.
