Blue Bear looks to India
Blue Bear Systems Research (BBSR) has the Indian Army’s mini UAV programme in its sights, with the company visiting the country to tout its mini-UAV solutions and strengthen industry ties.
The Indian Army has a requirement for 600 mini UAVs, with procurement expected to begin in late 2016. The Indian Navy and Coast Guard are also understood to be interested in the technology.
UK-based BBSR has a range of mini UAVs in production including iStart, a fixed wing platform with a 75cm wingspan; Blackstart, which has a 1.5m wingspan; and Riser, a 4.5kg rotary-wing quadcopter.
BBSR chief executive Yoge Patel is enthusiastic about the Indian market and the Indian Government's ‘Make in India’ industry campaign. She feels her company is well placed to fulfil many Indian requirements, and will draw on its rapid prototyping abilities to meet requirements.
Patel said: ‘BBSR specialises in designing and producing a wide range of small UAVs which can be tailor made for a particular requirement. We can build in specific mission systems, data links and sensors to meet every need of the customer.
‘We really listen to what they want rather than trying to impose a one-size-fits-all solution on to any requirement.’
