Black Diamond develops UGV C2
Carnegie Robotics has selected Black Diamond Advanced Technology to develop an Operator Control Unit (OCU) for unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) applications. Black Diamond announced the contract on 10 August.
The company will design, develop and prototype a handheld or chest-mounted OCU based on technology from its family of combat-proven, rugged modular tactical systems. The OCU will be built to specifications determined by Carnegie Robotics, who will use it for next-generation autonomous mine detection vehicles and other UGV applications.
Norman Lange, director of product development, Black Diamond Advanced Technology, said: 'The OCU will allow Carnegie Robotics end-customers' the ability to safely and accurately manage their UGVs with an intuitive human-machine interface (HMI) device that takes advantage of BDATech's legacy of cutting-edge human factors experience as a leading defence electronics OEM.'
Engineering design services and material deliveries under this project have begun and will continue through to 2016.
