AWHero’s communications trials with Wildcat

Leonardo has disclosed efforts to extend the communications range and manned/unmanned teaming capabilities of the AWHero VTOL UAS, a company official has said.

Addressing delegates at the Airborne ISR conference in London on 25th October, Sean McElliot, senior product marketing manager at Leonardo, described how tests had been conducted within the past fortnight at its Yeovil site in the UK.

According to McElliot, Leonardo completed ‘data exchange’ tests featuring live video feeds between dismounted users, the AWHero and Leonardo’s AW159 Wildcat helicopter in the land environment.
