Avionics begins production of Caçador UAV
Avionics, Brazilian UAV firm and partner of IAI, has begun the production of the Brazilian-made Medium Altitude Long-Endurance (MALE) UAV 'Caçador', as announced by IAI on 31 March.
The Caçador UAV meets the special strategic interests of Brazil, and it is being manufactured by the country's local industry. Avionics Services began production as well as maintenance and operation for the manufacturing of the Caçador.
IAI made the transfer of technology to Avionics for the development of the UAV under a cooperation agreement. Caçador is based on its Heron UAV, which is used in various operations worldwide and by the Brazilian Federal Police as well.
Caçador will feature an automatic take-off and landing system and can conduct a variety of tasks and utilise diverse mission payloads. It will carry multiple payloads for line-of-sight missions or beyond line of sight using satellite communications.
The sensors used in the Caçador UAV will deliver ISR data to the tactical-level end users and the ground segment in real time. The ground segment is an ergonomic and modular design.
Avionics' minority stakeholder European Advanced Technology is an IAI subsidiary, and its progress with the Caçador UAV is part of IAI's strategic expansion into the Brazilian defence market.
