AUVSI: Northrop Grumman readies Bat UAS for USSOCOM

Northrop Grumman is working up plans for a maritime version of the Bat UAS ahead of an anticipated request for proposal from the US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) for its Expeditionary UAS Maritime (EUASM) programme.

Speaking to Unmanned Vehicles at AUVSI in Denver, Northrop Grumman’s director of advanced concepts, Mark Gamache, said the company was currently designing a ship launch and recovery version. A first test flight of 'Sea Bat' is scheduled in September on board USS Paul F Foster, based at Port Hueneme, California, although Gamache admitted timings could slip due to delivery delays.
