AUSA 2024: Quantum-Systems targets big 2025 with UAS developments
Quantum-Systems has been upgrading its UAS family, with new versions of the Vector, Reliant and Twister drones set for release throughout 2025.
Northrop Grumman subsidiary Remotec is under contact to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) to convert a Caterpillar Telehandler 1255 lift truck into a teleoperated UGV for the removal of cars suspected of carrying improvised explosive devices.
The new UGV, nicknamed ‘Bat Cat’ by the LAPD because of its black colour scheme, is expected to be delivered by January.
Remotec says the conversion is leveraging systems fielded as part of the company’s ‘Beast’ UGV developed for the Israeli military from a standard Bobcat backhoe.
