AUVSI: Fire-X UAS maiden flight by end of year

The Bell Helicopter and Northrop Grumman Fire-X UAS will see its maiden flight by the end of the year, according to company officials.

Speaking at AUVSI on 25 August, business development director for advanced concepts air and land at Northrop Grumman, Bob Davis, said final modifications of the air vehicle would be completed in September and would be followed by software tests. The UAS will then be transferred from Bell Helicopter's Xworx facility in Fort Worth, Texas, to Yuma Proving Grounds in Arizona for initial flight tests.
