AUVSI 2018: ScanEagle 3 to complement Insitu's existing family

The arrival of the ScanEagle 3 will not see it push the legacy ScanEagle progenitor into retirement, rather representing an addition to Insitu’s family of unmanned platforms, company officials said.

Speaking with Shephard prior to the official unveiling of the platform at AUVSI’s Xponential show in Denver, Mark Bauman, VP of commercial systems, ‘emphatically’ denied that the original ScanEagle would be replaced by its new cousin.

‘I want to emphatically state that [this is not the end of ScanEagle],’ he said. ‘We offer a unique value proposition, combining GCS, launch and recovery and [a range of] payloads.’
