AUVSI 2017: FAA evaluates UAS detection systems

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and its partners are continuing to conduct detection research into UAS with a number of recent evaluations of detection systems at Dallas/Fort Worth International (DFW) Airport.

These are the latest in a series of detection system evaluations that began in February 2016.

The FAA is coordinating with the government and industry partners to evaluate technologies that could be used to detect UAVs in and around airports. When unmanned systems enter the airspace around airports they can pose serious safety threats to manned aircraft.
