AUVSI 2016: Next-gen sensors for Global Hawk (video)

While Northrop Grumman continues to provide its Global Hawk High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) UAV to Nasa for various research purposes the company is looking to future improvements of the unmanned system.

Speaking to Shephard at AUVSI Xponential Michael Lyons, Global Hawk programme lead at Northop Grumman, said that in partnership with the US Air Force the aircraft is undergoing a sensor modernisation programme.

In summer 2016 the company will be flaying the optical bar camera on a Global Hawk for the first time.

Later this year the company will also be integrating the MS-177 sensor to provide next generation
