AUVSI 2014: L-3 launches APEX UAS

L-3 Unmanned Systems will unveil the US DoD’s latest compact multi-sensor unmanned system, the Airborne Pursuit and Exploitation (APEX) UAS, at the AUVSI Unmanned Systems exhibition in Orlando.

The electric aircraft weighs 28kg, is capable of carrying a variety of payloads simultaneously and is currently being used with US forces, according to L-3 officials.

‘With APEX, we’re offering today’s warfighters an unprecedented level of capability from a small platform,’ JR Gear, VP of strategic development at L-3 Unmanned Systems, said in a statement. ‘APEX’s ability to be operated by a very small team and provide multi-mission and payload flexibility
