AUVSI 2012: ITT Exelis and SNC continue refinement of Vigilant Stare

ITT Exelis and Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) used AUVSI’s Unmanned Systems North America event to provide an update on the team’s ‘Vigilant Stare’ concept demonstrator.

Based on developments for the US Air Force’s ‘Gorgon Stare’ programme, Vigilant Stare is a wide-area surveillance system that is hosted on a manned aircraft with surveillance capabilities being marketed to potential customers on a fee-for-service basis.

Following the programme’s unveiling at the Farnborough Air Show in July, the ITT Exelis / SNC team has conducted and completed flight testing and remains on track to make the system available for operations by the end of
