Australia releases ITR for IED disposal UGVs

Australia’s Defence Materiel Organisation has released a global invitation to register (ITR) survey for the supply and support of between 30 and 50 medium UGVs for use in countering improvised explosive devices (IEDs) encountered by deployed army and air force units.

The ITR, which closes 20 November, is expected to be followed by the launch of an acquisition process commencing in March 2009. That process will use either a restricted tender or via the US foreign military sales system if a decision is made to acquire systems already in service with that nation’s armed forces.
