Australia to receive Talon UGVs
QinetiQ North America has received a production, engineering and post-production support contract from the US Naval Surface Warfare Center for Talon Mk2 Man Transportable Robotic Systems.
Australia will be among the recipients under the FMS programme, the DoD announced on 18 March.
Services under this contract cover the production of UGV systems, depot level repair parts, initial spares kits, consumables, repair parts and approved accessories.
Work on the $11.32 million baseline IDIQ contract will be completed by March 2022, although if all options are exercised it will be extended until March 2026 for a total cumulative value of $54.88 million.
Originally developed for EOD missions, the medium-sized Talon is a rugged, tracked system that has undergone numerous improvements and upgrades since it was introduced into service in 2010.
