Australia details plans for unmanned surveillance

A new High Altitude Sensor System (HASS) programme aims to harness new technologies for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) with the utilisation of unmanned technologies.

Collaboration between companies and the Defence Materials Technology Centre (DMTC) seeks to focus research and development funds to bring systems to market.

A defence spokesperson told Shephard that the programme ‘is targeting military unmanned aerial vehicles with modest payload and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (Earth observation) cube satellites,following an announcement on 3 April.
