AUSA 2019: AeroVironment takes punt on Puma LE

Manufacturer AeroVironment has unveiled a new addition to its sUAS collection, the Puma LE, a hand-launched platform designed for ISR missions across land and sea.

An evolution of the older Puma AE, new capabilities include increased range and improved payload capacity, while imagery is provided by a Mantis i45 gimbaled EO/IR sensor and NVG-visible laser illuminator.

A weight profile of 22.5kg, flight endurance of 5.5h and range of 60km, when linked to the company’s Long-Range Tracking Antenna are among the UAVs main technical specifications, while a second payload bay enables third-party payloads such as electronic warfare, RF emitter geolocation,
