AUSA 2013: Textron unveils BattleHawk launcher
Textron Defense Systems has completed arena level trials of its BattleHawk squad-level loitering munition as part of a demonstration to the US Army and is planning to develop a vehicle-mounted launch system.
Plans are also underway to trial a focus fragged munition payload as an alternative to the current omnidirectional grenade load.
At the AUSA exhibition in Washington DC, the company unveiled a mock-up of a BattleHawk launcher mounted onto a Commando Select 90 mm armoured support vehicle (ASV). A working prototype is expected to available in mid-2014 and the system would be a bolt-on suitable for a wide range
