Army micro-UAS research in the spotlight

In addition to highlighting expanding tactical UAS applications and new programme opportunities, the recent Association of the United States Army’s (AUSA) Army Aviation Symposium and Exhibition, held in Washington, DC, 7-9 January 2009, placed a spotlight on some of the army’s ongoing research and development efforts surrounding both ‘ultra lightweight’ and ‘micro’ UAVs.

Some of the recent accomplishments and ongoing examinations in these arenas were described by Dr Mark Nixon, Director, Vehicle Technology Directorate, US Army Research Laboratory.
