Army to increase Gray Eagle flight hours

The US Army’s MQ-1C Gray Eagle UAS will be subject to a surge in flight hours upon its return from operations in Afghanistan to maintain its operational capability, the army’s PM for UAS has revealed.

Speaking during celebrations to mark the army’s two millionth UAS flight hour, Col Timothy Baxter said that as the service withdraws from Afghanistan, an inevitable drop in flight hours is to be expected, although systems such as the Gray Eagle will continue to be flown stateside.
