New payload software for AFSOC MQ-9s

The development of a new line of software for the US Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) will enable the fielding of ‘new payloads’ on its MQ-9 Reaper fleet, according to a spokesperson from General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI).

An official announcement made on 22 January by the US Department of Defense stated that the company had been awarded a $34 million order to develop and field the Air Force Special Operations Command MQ-9 Medium Altitude Long Endurance Tactical (MALET) Lead-Off Hitter (LOH) software line.

The work is expected to be completed by February, 2018.
