AETF to receive enhanced SUGVs

The US Army Evaluation Task Force (AETF) is set to receive six enhanced versions of the Small Unmanned Ground Vehicle (SUGV) which will be tested and refined for inclusion in the 'Increment 1' capabilities package.

Called SUGV 320 by manufacturer iRobot, the platform has designated as the XM1216 by the Army. ‘We will be getting six of our ‘Inc 1’ or initial production models in [the weekend of 10-11 April 2010],’ said Alan Barnes, iRobot Field Service Representative with the AETF.

Barnes provided an overview of the previous “Block I” or “experimental model” system, pointing to ‘a Sony Zoom camera
