Vertex to continue T-1A support
L-3 Communications Vertex Aerospace has obtained another firm-fixed-contract to provide contractor-operated and contractor-maintained base support for the USAF Air Education and Training Command fleet of 178 T-1A Jayhawk trainer aircraft.
Work will be performed at airbases in Florida, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas, to be completed by 30 November 2021.
The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center awarded the latest $65.6 million contract, which follows a $77.25 million deal for Vertex in November 2019.
Shephard Defence Insight notes that the USAF ordered its T-1A fleet from Raytheon in two batches in 1990 and 1994. It expects to retire the medium-range, twin-engine jet trainer aircraft in 2030.
