USMC orders ISMT system
Meggitt Training Systems has received a third delivery order to develop and deliver Indoor Simulated Marksmanship Trainers (ISMTs) for the US Marine Corps (USMC), it announced on 23 February.
The $5.8 million order has been given by the USMC Systems Command Program Manager for Training Systems and takes the awards under the $32.7 million IDIQ contract to $25 million. The latest order will supply 166 ISMT small arms training systems and additional authoring stations. The ISMT system provides small arms training for marksmanship, collective and judgmental scenarios.
Kathleen Wilson, ISMT programme manager, Meggitt Training Systems, said: ‘We’ve incorporated automatic coaching features, providing immediate feedback to the instructor on the marine’s performance. This provides coaching opportunities in real-time to correct marksmanship skills, and allows for extra training as necessary. It readily adapts to the needs of the specific people utilising the system.’
The ISMT programme contract includes system and weapon simulator development, and the installation and support of over 670 systems at the USMC’s domestic and global facilities.
