US mulls Saudi support services
The US State Department has made a determination approving a foreign military sale of support services to Saudi Arabia, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) announced on 18 February. The sale is estimated at $200 million.
Saudi Arabia has requested support services from the US Military Training Mission (USMTM). USMTM is the security cooperation organisation responsible for planning, identifying and executing training and advisory support for the Saudi Arabian defence ministry.
The sale will ensure the continuation of technical assistance field teams and other support for USMTM services to Saudi Arabia and support combatant command initiatives in the country.
Sustaining the USMTM will support Saudi Arabia in its deterrence of hostile actions and increase military interoperability between the country and the US.
