UDT 2018: RN submarine training under the spotlight

With the foundations of the submarine school at HMNB Clyde laid and the process of moving all submarines to the site at Faslane underway the Royal Navy (RN) is now considering future training for the fleet.

There are already 3D training solutions at Faslane but there is still some way to go to enable sailors to be trained to a sustained level but with less time on shore.

‘People are a really valuable commodity and too much time spent on shore or too much time training them at sea is time that we could be doing other things,’ said Cdre
