Cubic tailors mortar simulator for the US Army
The company’s mortar trainer received improvements based on soldier’s feedback.
Five ships in Standing NATO Maritime Group Two (SNMG2) took part in a joint exercise with Romania in the Black Sea on 30 March.
The Romanian Air Force and Navy took part in a simulated scenario which included guiding the SNMG2 vessels through an area suspected of having a high level of risk of sea mines.
The SNMG2 ships would then provide protection from other threats. Two MiG-21 aircraft belonging to the Romanian Air Force simulated several attacks against the vessels involved.
Rear Adm Paolo Fantoni, Commander of SNMG2, said: ‘Training exercises like the lead through in anti-mine warfare are critical and challenging: all opportunities like this one must be seized.’
Bulgaria, Canada, Italy, Romania and Turkey contributed one vessel apiece to the current formation of SNMG2.

The company will operate in two new locations in the coming years to better support US services.
This type of tool provides more realistic training easing the incorporation of new scenarios that accurately represent the threats of the battlefield.
The Engineering Corps has been conducting individual instruction using FLAIM Systems’ Sweeper and should start collective deployments in 2025.
The next-generation platform is motion-compatible and can be used in OTW and NVG applications.
The system can be used to prepare soldiers for both drone offensive operations and CUAS missions.
