Singapore to build high-tech urban training facility

On 28 June the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) broke ground for its SAF Training Institute (SAFTI) City, a 88-hectare purpose-built urban warfare training facility.

First announced in 2017 by Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen, SAFTI City will be built to tackle emerging threats and operating environments that the SAF expects to face. Co-developed by the Defence Science and Technology Agency, Phase 1 involves the construction of 70+ buildings across 70 hectares, some as high as 12 floors.
