Saab upgrades training capability for BAF
The US Army has awarded a contract to Saab Defense and Security USA to produce and field an upgrade and expansion to its previously fielded live training equipment for the Bulgarian armed forces, the company announced on 7 October.
The contract will see the integration of the Deployable Instrumented Training System (DITS) hardware into the Bulgarian armed forces' existing training systems. The company's Training and Simulation unit will be responsible for delivery of the new and upgraded equipment.
Cyndi Turner, vice president and general manager, training and simulation business unit, SDAS, said: ‘We are honoured to have been selected by the US Army Foreign Military Sales office and the Bulgarian armed forces for a delivery of this nature. This contract is important in that it increases the training capability of our NATO allies and helps garner strength and stability in Eastern Europe.’
