Army training for Austria
The Austrian Federal Ministry of Defence has awarded a $125.57 million contract to Saab for the supply of new advanced training system for the Austrian army, the company announced on 29 September.
The delivers under the contract will be made from 2015 to 2018.
The company will deliver its next generation soldier training systems along with the new add-on equipment, which will extend the existing system. The company will also provide a mid-life upgrade for the army’s existing anti-tank and vehicle training systems. More capabilities will be provided to train conscripts and professional soldiers, under the contract.
Henrik Höjer, head of business unit training and simulation, Saab, said: ‘We continue to build on the success of our existing relationship with the Austrian army. For more than 15 years they have been using our system; they are an extremely far-sighted and experienced partner. Saab is delivering training systems to all of the armed forces in Europe and Austria is now able to enhance their multinational training activities.’
Earlier, Saab’s simulation systems were used by the Austrian army for its anti-tank weapons, tanks and soldiers.
