Saab select VE Studio for VMT development
DiSTI’s VE Studio has been selected by Saab Aeronautics for the development of a virtual maintenance trainer (VMT) for Saab’s Gripen E aircraft, the company announced on 3 December.
VE Studio is a COTS virtual training development platform for desktop, mobile, AR and VR applications. It uses database-driven development processes combined with end-to-end automated tools to simplify the creation of virtual training solutions based on the Unity rendering engine. VE Studio will enable Saab to develop its own virtual maintenance training content faster than other methods.
Leveraging VE Studio, the Gripen E project management team will be able to train existing staff to use the platform for creating the aircraft’s VMT. This will provide them with a complete control of the training content throughout the aircraft’s lifecycle, allowing them to rapidly adapt to engineering, equipment and procedural changes that take place during the initial deployment, through flight trials, into final customer delivery and beyond.
