Saab receives US Army CVTESS order
Saab will supply additional laser-based training systems for US Army armoured combat vehicles under contract options announced on 12 January.
The $32 million fourth and fifth options come under Saab’s 2012 Combat Vehicle Tactical Engagement Simulation System (CVTESS) indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract.
CVTESS provides the army with a highly accurate, laser-based simulation of the combat vehicle weapons used on all M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank and Bradley fighting vehicles variants, including opposing forces vehicles.
The highly realistic combat scenarios and after-action reports provided by the system give soldiers the experience and knowledge necessary to be safe and effective in the field.
The system is designed to be easily installed and maintained, and to reduce the cost and time of combat vehicle training.
Cyndi Turner, general manager, Saab Defense and Security USA’s Training and Simulation division, said: ‘Saab’s CVTESS is on the cutting edge of force-on-force training technology. With more than 3,000 vehicle systems fielded to the US Army, we are proud to continue supplying our military with a proven solution for their training needs.’
