US Air Force sees the power of VR

The USAF has opened a new VR maintenance training facility at Little Rock AFB. The 10-station Virtual Reality Maintenance Center, developed by Mass Virtual, is used to train C-130J maintenance technicians.

The USAF has officially opened its C-130J Virtual Reality Maintenance Center (VRMC) at Little Rock AFB in Arkansas.

The VRMC comprises 10 VR training stations and sees the air force working in partnership with Orlando-based Mass Virtual. According to 19th Airlift Wing, the new training facility ‘will afford maintenance airmen the ability to become more proficient on mission-essential tasks; all within a controlled environment’.

‘It’s pretty unlimited to what tasks we can complete in VR,’ explained MSgt Nick Massingill, 19th Maintenance Group development and instruction section chief.
