UK looks for CH-47 cabin trainers

The stated value for supplying three mock-up Chinooks seems low for the hardware and support required; and a stipulation that devices must fit inside an ISO container inflicts design limitations on potential providers

British Army Land Forces HQ, based in Andover, issued an invitation to tender (ITT) on 25 September for the supply of three ‘Chinook Mock Ups’.

Contained in three ISO containers, these ‘aircraft scale models’ are required to replicate the aircraft’s rear fuselage cargo compartment.

According to HQ Army, the devices are being procured ‘to maximise training opportunities and reduce the reliance on live aircraft whilst also minimising risk to personnel by conducting progressive training before progressing onto live aircraft’.
