The centre focuses on providing training for aircrew flying fighter, ground-attack and ASW aircraft from Russian Navy carriers or other warships

A new Russian Naval Aviation training complex, part of the 859th Naval Aviation Training Centre (859th NATC) at Yeysk in Krasnodar Krai, situated on the shore of the Taganrog Gulf of the Sea of Azov, opened at the beginning of October 2020.

859th NATC was established in 2010 but the new training facilities are understood to be part of a modernisation process.

The centre focuses on providing training for aircrew and engineering personnel working with fighter, ground-attack and ASW aircraft operating from Russian Navy carriers or other warships.

Training for aircrew and engineering technicians from foreign forces is also provided.
