MSPO 2016: Polish Army looking for CTC
While many NATO members are failing to meet that organisation’s goal of spending 2% of national GDP on defence, Poland continues to make major defence investments to reach this target and bolster its forces.
In January, Polish defence minister Antoni Macierewicz stated that he wants to double the size of the army to 150,000 troops.
The major driver behind this investment is of course the threat from Russia but although manpower is one consideration, much of Poland’s military equipment is from the Soviet era and comprises BMP and T-72/PT-91 armoured vehicles.
