PLA resumes scheduled recruitment drive
The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has begun recruiting new soldiers in a process which scheduled for Q3 2020 after it was approved by the Central Military Commission.
The recruitment drive for the first half of 2020 was postponed as a result of the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak which saw additional resources diverted towards epidemic prevention and control.
Wu Qian, a spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, said during a press conference in Beijing on 30 April that the recruitment process will last until 15 August, with online enrolment for female applicants being made available from the end of June.
From 2020 onwards, the PLA will hold biannual recruitment drives instead of one each year.
