Singapore Airshow: New sims from ST
ST Engineering has used the Singapore Airshow to unveil two new training devices.
The first is a new virtual reality pilot training simulation (VRPST) device. Although aimed at the commercial airline, two-crew cockpit environment, the trainer has clear applications for two-crew military aircraft such as transport, tanker and maritime patrol aircraft.
Featuring an Oculus Rift head mounted display and with the simulation running on a laptop computer, the device has been designed to train pilots in cockpit procedural drills such as checklists and emergency procedures. The new training device uses VT MAK'S VR Vantage visualisation system.
