Meggitt wins trainer support contract
Meggitt Training Systems has been awarded a contract by the Canadian Department of National Defence to provide in-service support for the Canadian armed forces' Indirect Fire Trainer (IFT) and Small Arms Trainer (SAT), the company announced on 24 August.
The three-year, approximately $18.89 million contract will see Meggitt Training Systems provide maintenance and operator support for SAT and IFT training activities. It will also include onsite support for health, usage and equipment monitoring at major bases across Canada.
The Meggitt SAT simulator system supports group and individual training in various security, military and paramilitary operations. The IFTs are used to train soldiers in mortar crew, fire direction centre and forward observer skills.
Andrea Czop, president, Meggitt Training Systems, said: ‘Meggitt has been a proud supplier of weapon simulation to the Canadian armed forces for more than 20 years. We remain a committed partner supporting the operational readiness of Canada’s soldiers, sailors and airmen with advanced simulation and training systems.’
