Meggitt details USMC order
Meggitt Training Systems has been awarded a $7.19 million delivery order to develop and deliver Indoor Simulated Marksmanship Trainers (ISMTs) for the US Marine Corps (USMC), it was announced on 2 February.
This order is in addition to an earlier $32.7 million contract from the USMC for training systems.
The ISMT system provides virtual small arms training for collective, marksmanship and judgmental scenarios. The latest order includes Meggitt’s patented BlueFire wireless weapons and virtual simulation systems, which will be delivered to international and domestic locations as well as aboard naval vessels.
The ISMT programme provides a five-year indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract, which includes development of system and weapon simulator, and installation and support of over 670 systems at USMC's domestic and international facilities.
Kathleen Wilson, program manager, ISMT, said: ‘This user-friendly training solution provides a rapid readiness for instructors, and allows marines to complete mandatory courses in a quick, efficient manner.’
