MASA introduces SWORD 6.4
MASA Group has released an enhanced version of its SWORD military training software, the company announced on 26 January.
SWORD is a widely-deployed wargame-style simulation training system, that uses automated forces to safely train command staff.
The new edition includes a new a communication model applicable in a wide variety of highly realistic scenarios. The model simulates genuine radio equipment, allowing users to specify radio maximum ranges, and just like the real equipment, the performance of the communication system will be affected by the weather, terrain and urban areas as well as electronic countermeasures.
Another new feature is the technology’s ability to directly simulate the effect of lighting or weather conditions such as fog or heavy rain on a vehicle's speed and other performance metrics. Extreme weather conditions can also be simulated in disaster relief exercises, such as continued heavy rain during a flood rescue, or snowfall in an earthquake rescue. The effect of terrain and the impact of indirect fire can also be modified in the new version.
The upgrades have been designed to further enhance the system’s efficiency and its fidelity to real situations.
