Kratos delivers first production BQM-177A Subsonic SSAT
Kratos Defense & Security Solutions has delivered the first production BQM-177A Subsonic Aerial Target (SSAT) to the US Navy, the company announced on 9 July.
The delivery is a part of a previously announced first year low rate initial production contract worth around $37 million.
The SSAT programme is developing a new high fidelity target for the US Navy that replicates subsonic anti-cruise missile threats to support fleet training and weapon system testing and evaluation.
Based on the company’s BQM-167X, BQM-177A is a derivative of the BQM-167A Skeeter target. BQM-177A has been designed to initially augment and eventually replace the existing BQM-74E targets and will deliver longer range, lower cruise altitudes with better manoeuvrability.
